Single-letter and double-letter code examples
RTA’s private-plate selector includes single letters A–Z and the following double-letter suggestions checked for this guide: AA, BB, CC, DD, EE, HH, MM, NN. This describes a selector snapshot, rather than a complete historical register or a promise of stock. (RTA private-plate code selector)
A code appearing in the selector does not show that a particular code-and-number combination is for sale. Confirm the complete identity through the relevant RTA service or a traceable seller’s ownership record.
Do Dubai codes create a fixed price premium?
There is no verified all-code price table in our sample. At the 120th auction, BB 12 and AA 25 achieved different amounts, but both the code and number changed. Calling the entire difference a letter premium would overstate what those records can establish.

AA 707 is a palindrome from a different auction date. It belongs in a three-digit comparison group, not a two-digit code-price ranking. Compare the same emirate, number length, number structure and evidence type before drawing a conclusion.
Common input mistakes
- Entering AA as A and losing half the code.
- Typing AA707 into the number field rather than separating AA and 707.
- Counting letters as digits when searching for a two- or three-digit price.
- Using an Abu Dhabi numeric category as though it were a Dubai private-car code.

Frequently asked questions
What do AA, BB and CC mean on a Dubai number plate? +
They are double-letter codes identifying the plate series. The number beside the code is a separate part of the identity. AA 25 is therefore a two-digit number in the AA series.
Are Dubai private-car plate codes numeric? +
The private-car format covered here uses letter codes, including double-letter series. Numeric Abu Dhabi categories are a different system. Do not enter a made-up numeric Dubai category in the checker.
Does AA always cost more than another Dubai code? +
The reviewed data does not establish a reliable ranking for every code. Different achieved prices for AA 25 and BB 12 also reflect different numbers, so they do not isolate a code premium.
Can I enter a code that is not in the suggestions? +
The checker accepts a well-formed one- or two-letter Dubai code. That validates the input format; it does not confirm that the series or number has been issued or is available.
